The JV Patriots attended the Howells pool tournament on Saturday, December 3rd.  A pool tournament is different from a regular tournament in that in a pool tournament a wrestler will wrestle every one in his side of the bracket.  This type of tournament was beneficial to our wrestlers because everyone was guaranteed at least 4 matches, which was great for the first tournament.

Ryan Kostszewa was the Wrestler of the Week from the first week from winning the tournament and going undefeated.  He recorded 3 pins on the day and 1 tech fall.  Joining the champ on the medal stand were fellow freshmen Zach Deloa, Tanner Woitzel, and Coty Watson – placing 4th, 3rd, and 3rd respectively.  Jake Halcomb turned in a stellar performance by pinning 4 opponents and losing to last years Class D State Champion from Howells.
