Gross Catholic JV Invite
This weekend our Freshman and Reserve wrestlers competed at the Gross Catholic JV invite. Our guys wrestled great for the first tournament of the year. I saw a lot of guys improve their skills from last year, and a lot of promising new freshman. I am very excited about our season and the future looks bright for these young men.
106- There were two guys competing at the 106 weight class this weekend. Kaiden Heinze has improved tremendously over the year. He had a very successful first tournament and captured a First place medal. Our other wrestler was newcomer Dylan McCubbins. This is Dylan’s first year ever wrestling. He also had a great first tournament of the year, capturing two wins and a loss coming home with a Second place medal.
120- Touger Lor was our 120lb wrestler this week. This is also Touger’s first year wrestling. He has been working hard in the room for the past few weeks. Unfortunately, Touger suffered an injury in his first match that cut his tournament short.
126- Logan Ferris held down the 126 spot this week and did not disappoint. He has come a long way from his freshman year. Logan wrestled three tough matches, winning all of them, and taking home a first place medal!
132- Gage Teut is a freshman that is also new to wrestling. He showed a lot of promise capturing his first victory of the year and earning a third place medal.
138- Another weight class with two guys. Sophomore Cody Naidas has improved over the year as well. Cody had a tough bracket this weekend and had to wrestle three full matches to earn a first place medal. Our second guy there was newcomer Broc Ruma-Marion. Broc has been working hard over the past few weeks and earned a third place medal.
145- JJ Latenser and Even Urick both wrestled tough tournaments this weekend. JJ won two matches to capture a gold medal. Evan is a newcomer to the Millard South program. He is a great addition to our team. Evan won two matches and lost one in the final seconds.
152- Also, another great addition to our team and newcomer Reggie Harris wrested very well this weekend. This is his first time ever wrestling and we sure are glad to have him. He came away with 2 big wins and a second place medal.
160- Alex Rainy is a brand new wrestler this year wrestling a tough weight class. He has been working hard in the room and learning a lot. With his attitude and will, the wins will start to come.
170- Phil Meckna is a real tough freshman who has been wrestling for two years. Phil went 2 and 1 bringing home a second place medal. The Future is bright for him.
182- Kobe Edwards is also a freshman with a great attitude and a bright future. He has been working extremely hard in the room and it is paying off for him. He went 2 and 1 this weekend bringing home a silver medal.
Christian Nash also wrestled 182. He is another great addition to our team as a freshman. He went 3 and 0 bringing home a gold.
