The Patriots traveled to Burke High School fresh off a hard fought Metro Conference
Victory to compete in the Burke Invite. The Patriots would be a little short handed as
3 varsity members would be out of the lineup for the tournament. As is, Millard South
would crown 5 champions on the day. Dylan Kuehn would be the surprise of the day
filling in for Anthony Cloyd; Kuehn would bring home a championship and would also
earn the award for the fastest pin at 9 seconds. Ryan Kostszewa and Mark Tompsett
would deliver pins in the finals to lead the Patriots.

“We definitely would have brought home the championship had we been at full strength,”
said head coach, Doug Denson. “However, we wrestled pretty well and will look forward
to putting our best lineup together next weekend.”

“We didn’t really put a lot of emphasis on the Burke Invite,” said assistant head coach, Jay
Meneely. “We still have high expectations no matter where we wrestle, but we kind of
took a step back this week before we get ready for the big push to the end of the year.
From here on out, we are going to build to our peak at districts and state.”

“It was nice to see Dylan Kuehn step up for the team and bring home a championship,” said
assistant coach, Alan Marvin. “Dylan’s fastest pin in the semi-final was pretty amazing.
