Sunday, November 27th Millard South Wrestling competed at the Mustang Thanksgiving Holiday Tournament. There was two sessions one for Novice and one for the Open division.
The Novice Patriots wrestled really well at the tournament. This was one of the very first tournaments many of them had wrestled, some for this season and others first of their career. They battled and displayed the techniques they have learned in practices.
A couple highlights from the Novice division. Braelyn Wilson and Khloe Heinz worked hard at the tournament and their technique continued to improve. Kaden VanCleave had an outstanding tournament winning by fall in each of his 3 matches to receive 1st place. This is only Kaden’s second year wrestling and his wrestling skills are starting to catch up with his athletic ability.
A highlight from the open division would be William Leavitt’s finals match. Will lost by 1 point with short time on the clock and learned from his mistakes. Will was in a round robin so he still ended up in 1st place by criteria. Other placers in the open division include Kiah Rasmussen’s 3rd place finish in the 14&U HWT division and the Aburumuh brothers both placed 2nd. More results can be found here.
A lot of our wrestlers worked through mat strategy during the Mustang tournament and continue to grow as wrestlers as we progress through the season. The next competition is Treynor, Iowa with the idea that our wrestlers will see some new competition.
